Her thinking and philosophy on the rights of women and her conviction that women’s equality should be based upon their independence and empowerment has markedly improved the lives of thousands and continues to inspire men and women today. By facilitating the emancipation of women, she naturally led an entire community steeped in tradition toward a more modern and equitable conception of the rights and duties of human beings towards one another. She encouraged them to challenge their own cultural, social, and religious heritage and to become aware of the negative impact of prejudice and cultural determinism. In short, the transformation of an entire culture may be one of her greatest enduring legacies.
Malek Jân left behind approximately forty manuscripts written in Kurdish and Persian in which she relates her spiritual experiences and philosophy. Among these works are her advice and recommendations to women, as well as a few compilations of poems that bear witness to her taste for mystic poetry. Transcending cultures, creeds, and religions, her profound words and teachings are as relevant and empowering in today’s modern world as they were when she wrote them in a remote village in the East so many years ago.
